EpiCypher 2021: Biological and Clinical Frontiers in Epigenetics will be held at the luxury Opal Sands Resort. Registration fee includes five nights of luxury beachfront lodging, breakfast each day, dinners and poster session receptions throughout the conference, opening night and closing night receptions, conference fees and all conference materials.

* Single Occupancy: private room for a single conference attendee.

** Double Occupancy: room with two beds shared by two attendees. Roommates can be specified upon registration, or assigned by the conference organizers prior to the conference.

PROGRAM

EpiCypher 2021: Biological and Clinical Frontiers in Epigenetics brings together academic and industry scientists to discuss the latest findings in the field. Talks will cover a broad range of epigenetics and chromatin biology topics, ranging from basic molecular mechanisms to therapeutic efforts. In addition, there will be discussions around the elucidation of novel mechanisms, new tools, and other breaking topics in epigenetics and chromatin research.

Many talks will be selected from submitted abstracts.

The conference will begin the evening (~5 PM) on Sunday, November 7 with the opening Keynote Address, and conclude late on the evening of Thursday, November 11 with the closing Keynote Address and a reception. Conference attendees should plan to depart on Friday, November 12.

More details will be posted soon when the program is complete.

ABSTRACTS

Abstracts can be submitted at the time of registration for the conference. All conference attendees submitting an abstract are encouraged to present a poster. You may also designate if would like to be considered for a short talk. If you have already registered, you may submit an abstract up until the abstract submission deadline (October 15, 2021) by emailing it to epicypher2021@epicypher.com.

The provided boards will be 4 ft by 6 ft. Please print your poster accordingly beforehand. Push pins will be provided.

Many talks will be chosen from the submitted abstracts across all career levels (from graduate students and postdocs to new and established investigators).

Keynote Speakers

Kristian Helin, Ph.D.

Dr. Helin’s laboratory studies the function of epigenetics and chromatin structure in diverse cellular processes, and how changes to these pathways influence the development of human diseases.

The Helin lab has made seminal contributions to our understanding of chromatin associated proteins and modifying complexes in transcription, cellular differentiation, and development. The overarching goal of his work is to leverage chromatin biology to reveal novel targets for therapeutic development.

Steven Henikoff, Ph.D.

Dr. Henikoff’s laboratory is focused on understanding the role of chromatin architecture in regulating gene expression. His work has provided fundamental insight toward the complex mechanisms underlying epigenetic processes, and how chromatin interacts with various proteins to control transcription.

As part of this work, Dr. Henikoff has also developed multiple high-impact chromatin profiling and genomics tools, many of which have become invaluable resources in molecular biology.

Arrival by Air: Clearwater Beach is served by two nearby commercial airports: Tampa International Airport (TPA), which is around 40 minutes from Opal Sands, and St. Pete - Clearwater Interational Airport (PIE), which is approximately 30 minutes from Opal Sands. TPA is larger and has more airline and flight options. Uber, Lyft and taxi service are the best options for travel from either airport to Clearwater Beach.

Arrival By Car: If you are driving your personal vehicle to EpiCypher 2021, Parking at Opal Sands has been discounted to $15 per night (payable directly to the hotel) for the duration of the conference.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Weather: On any given day during November along the West Coast of Florida, you can expect early morning temperatures to be near 60° F (16° C). Temperatures in Clearwater Beach typically rise during the day, to an average of 75° F (24° C) in the early afternoon. The water in the Gulf of Mexico near Clearwater Beach averages 72° F (22° C) in November, and the chance of rain is approximately 15%.

Amenities: Both the Opal Sands and the Hyatt Regency are full service, 4-star oceanfront luxury resorts. Service at each hotel is exceptional and the amenities include: multiple restaurants and bars on site, outdoor pool, room service, fitness center, spa, laundry service and Wi-Fi internet. Please refer to the website for each venue for specific details.

Extended Stay: As a conference attendee, you are able to extend your stay up to two nights prior to and/or two nights following the conference at the group rate in either the Opal Sands or Hyatt Resort.

Please contact epicypher2021@epicypher.com to extend your existing reservation for the conference. However, availability for these weekend nights are extremely limited, and available on a "first come, first served" basis so we recommend adjusting your reservation as soon as possible. Additionally, reservations for extending your stay at the group rate are only being taken until September 21st.

COVID INFORMATION

EpiCypher is committed to conducting our conference as safely as possible. We understand the concerns regarding COVID and EpiCypher will be following CDC guidelines every step of the way to ensure safe in-person interactions during the on-site conference.

We strongly encourage all conference participants and their guests to be vaccinated prior to the meeting. If you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask when outside of your hotel room and practice social distancing.

How big is the meeting space?

The platform sessions will be held in a large enough space as to allow people to social distance in the audience.

How is the hotel ensuring safety of their guests?

Opal Sands is mindful of the situation and the concerns patrons might have with regard to the COVID situation. Opal Sands employees will always have a mask and will mask up when encountering or engaging with a guest who is wearing one. All public areas are cleaned several times per day by Opal Sands staff.

What is the Hotel’s cleaning procedure?

Below is the bare minimum SOP being followed at Opal Sands when cleaning guest rooms and the public areas.

Cleaning SOP

Put on clean gloves, visually inspect room and restock supplies.
Spray (and do not wipe) all bathroom hard surfaces with multi-purpose disinfectant cleaner (toilet, urinals, sinks, countertops and fixtures) or bathroom disinfectant (shower/tub).
Dust, clean and disinfect all hard surfaces in room with focus on high touchpoints.
Return to bathroom after required disinfectant contact time to wipe/scrub and rinse hard surfaces starting with shower and ending with toilet. Refer to product label.
Pick up debris and empty trash; replace trash liner if needed.
Vacuum soft-surfaced floors (carpet/rug); sweep then mop hard-surfaced floors (tile/LVT).
Remove gloves; perform proper hand hygiene.

What is the COVID Cancellation Policy?

At any time before the meeting registration deadline (October 15, 2021) you can transfer your registration to someone else at your institution. Note: If you have signed up for Double Occupancy, for room sharing purposes, we ask that the replacement attendee be the same gender as the original attendee.

Prior to October 1, 2021 - cancel (for any reason) with a 100% refund.
Between October 1, 2021 and October 15, 2021 - cancel (for any reason) with a 75% refund.
Anytime after October 15, 2021 - cancel and receive a 100% refund in the form of a credit towards a future purchase of EpiCypher products (must be used within 1 year).

If you test positive for COVID-19 within 10 days of the meeting, please contact us at epicypher2021@epicypher.com to request a refund.
